Performing a dash roll procedure
Here you see the all important relief cuts being made. Each of these cuts must be made or the dash will not displace. The cuts are usually made at a 45 degree angle like so |/__ the diagonal line indicates the cut with the the 2 perpendicular lines being the door frame assembly
Second Step
Here you see our instructor and Chief, Pat Garner, instructing us on the proper areas to place the hydraulic rams. |
Step 3
Once the rams are in place..Slowly and evenly apply pressure to the dash, watching every thing that is moving |
Step 4
So as not to keep a tool tied up during the extrication process, you will need to continually "CRIB" the opening created by the ram. The relief cut you made earlier will begin to rip away. Place cribbing inside this opening to keep the tool and the operator safe |
Once the patient is free you do not have to move the dash any longer. ALWAYS--Crib the vehicle so that it will not move once the tool's pressure is removed.
This is a quick overview on how to perform a dash roll procedure.
